Free Write - Decisions

I remember my first days at Sac State like it was yesterday.  I was just a young freshman living in Draper Hall.  I was the one of the only people from my high school that had decided to attend Sacramento State University, so I really did not know a single person.  The first few days of living on my own was a lot different from what I expected.  There were so many open hours of the day that I did not know what to do with.  One day I was walking back to my dorm from my class and passed by several groups of guys who people new guys to join their organizations.  I figured, why not?  Talking to some of these guys, I wasn't impressed.  Going into college I never really thought I'd be "one of those guys." One of those stereotypical frat guys.  So I was already outside in the quad area of the dorms for about 30 minutes or so talking to Most of the guys.  Nobody yet really peaked my interest so I started heading back to my dorm.  Along the way, some guy name Kyle Jackson tossed a football that was heading toward my direction.  I didn't see a single soul in that general area and two thoughts went through my head.  Either:  A) That ball was a stray, or B) That ball was intended for me.  I ended up catching the ball and then we started talking for a bit.  I found out that he was in the fraternity called Delta Chi and started meeting more of their brothers, including Neilsen Gabriel, the former ASI President at Sac State.  I figured I'd give it a shot, and then as soon as I knew it I was an Active Member of Delta Chi. To all the people thinking about rushing (or not), try it out. Maybe you'll like it.. I definitely did.  Thanks for reading.

  1. I like the story, Chris. To make it fit the goal of this blog more, you could add more of a "they say" - what are you responding to here. What I wanted to hear that about was this line "Going into college I never really thought I'd be 'one of those guys.' One of those stereotypical frat guys." What's a stereotypical frat guy? What's the typical view of a frat guy? Give us this information about what others say, and then you can finish your story which shows that you are or aren't one of them.

  3. Hey I am at draper too could you tell me what floor you are on? Know this about joining a club; you can enjoy being around with other people who are like you but you have to invest time in it. So be careful what you chose.
